出道12年，發行過5張錄音專輯、一場現場演唱精華，Mary J. Blige總是以她那讓人
震懾的R&B / Hip hop作品，讓人同時在身體、心理及腦袋都能獲得滋潤。她不僅僅是
個歌手，她魅力四射的現場演唱、備受矚目的音樂錄影帶作品，以及與Elton John和
Eve等大牌巨星合作的歌曲，都為人所津津樂道。

1991年，Mary和P. Diddy在她的驚艷處女專輯《What』s The 411?》的合作，成功創
造出一種極具特色的「ghetto fabulous」風格，融合了R&B、福音及藍調演唱技巧和
放克及饒舌多種樂風。1994年，兩人再度合作專輯《My Life》，又將流行靈魂樂提升
到另一個層次。

到了1997年的《Share my Life》和1999年的《Mary》時，真實誠摯的Mary J. Blige
開始放膽將生活中的痛楚，透過創作的歷程釋放到作品之中，這樣的做法讓Mary漸漸
忘卻心碎苦痛，也證明了音樂的療傷力量。「我其實不想將心事說出去，但我就是控
制不住。當我寫了這些歌，歌迷們給我的回應是: 『你拯救了我的生命！』他們可能
不知道，當他們願意傾聽我的故事，其實才是拯救了我的生命。」Mary如是說。

2001年，Mary步入21世紀的首張專輯《No More Drama》創下三白金佳績。「我一直以
為我的歌迷群有限，大概就是幾個都會區吧！但是全世界各地、各種膚色的歌迷都十
分熱愛這張專輯。原本我只是用力的傾吐我的想法，沒想到能獲得這麼大的認同。」
同時Mary也開始跨足其他領域，在電視劇《Strong Machine》中的演出亮眼，並於獨
立製片《Prison Song》中與饒舌樂手Q-Tip合作演出。

除了在螢光幕上的演出外，她也積極經營慈善事業。不但在反毒的公益廣告中現身代
言，還支援許多教育團體，並獲頒Rock The Vote最高榮譽的「The Patrick Lipper
Award」。另外，於AIDS的防治工作上，Mary也是指標性人物，身為MAC Viva Glam
IV代言人的她，也積極推動讓每條口紅上均能標註愛滋病的防治訊息，以及最新研究
報告。

Mary認為，能夠在唱片中、演唱會舞台上，或甚至是教導如何珍愛自己的私人學習課
程上，去宣洩自己一路走來的心路歷程，都讓她發現更多新動力。只要她所作的音樂
、所寫的歌，能夠帶給更多的人快樂、平靜，對自己來說也是一種救贖。
